Not my strong suit. But it is Steve Kamb’s.
Read his latest: The World’s Quickest Advice Column
I love Nerd Fitness, and I really love this column. My favorite bit - “I want results. Track everything. ‘That which gets measured gets improved.’”
I’ve said it before - if you want to lose weight, increase fitness or alter your body composition, you have to know where you’re starting from and you have to keep track of what you’re doing and the results of that work. If you do none of these things then you might as well just stop now. Without objective measurements you will, at best, have a vague idea of what’s going on. At worst, you will wallow in a pit of subjective judgments based on, well, basically, your mood and what you think you see in the mirror.

I don’t want to work. I don’t want to do anything.
Scratch that. I want to watch superhero movies until my eyeballs turn to goo. I was actually looking at the DVD of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” the other day and thinking how much I’d like to watch it. (Yes, I bought the DVD of one of the least-loved superhero films of all time - so?)
So, back’s still messed up, but it’s a little better since I backed off on my PT exercises and got an inversion table. Not gonna have much in the way of fitness advice for you folks until this thing gets healed. Although, I will say that the notion that maintaining your weight and body composition is 80% diet is being well born out by my current situation. I’m getting precisely no exercise at all and my weight and body composition haven’t budged in months.
Maybe I should start posing recipes. ;-)
